Starry Night | Oil painting (2023), 20x20cm

I used a 20x20cm MDF board as a palette for some larger oil paintings and then sanded it down and scraped away with a scalpel knife to carve stars into the work. It is a bit experimental as it isn’t intentional what colors are where on the painting, it shows how the colors of the palette developed. I started creating paintings this way as I didn’t particularly appreciate creating palettes and then disposing of them when they dried out. Even if you managed to scrape most of it off, it can still happen that you accidentally squeeze too much or that there is still some paint left over. So now, most of the paint is being used.
