Behind the artwork: Routa (eng. groundfrost). Due to climate change, there are fewer days with groundfrost year to year. The cracks and meeting of materials in this piece suggest early spring melts and the beauty of the last winter days.
About the artist: Alex’s sculptures are born through a material driven process using found or recycled materials. He is currently studying art education at Aalto University and works and runs ceramics courses at MiSo Ceramics in Kallio.
