Mythological Alphabet – 46 x 65 cm digital art print

I studied graphic design in the bachelor studies where once a visiting teacher taught us about Arabian script. We were given an Arabic poem whose original and Finnish translation we used in many exercises throughout the course. At the end of the course we had an assignment to come up with a headline and design its typeface for the course’s personal process book.

For the headline, which was written in Finnish, I wanted to form the letters from animals. I got the idea to research Arabian mythical creatures and got really inspired by them. After the course I drew with vector graphics all the letters from the alphabet adding mythical creatures from other areas of the Middle East too. Each letter’s creature’s name is written below the letters.
