Infrared I | Sculpture (2019)

Story/ Process: I made this in 2019 and later exhibited for a duo exhibition called Emergent Properties at Kulturrikeskus Caisa (one of the Helsinki Talos). It is a part of a larger series of works inspired by queer nomadic people living in southern Finland that I interviewed.

The namesake of the exhibition, emergent properties, is used in biology as well as other fields to describe how isolated individual parts of a system are not enough to know how the entire system itself functions, like organs in a body. This also offers an analogy for how we begin to understand our identities as well.
