Lichen Progeny | Framed Paper Machè Work (2024)

The works were created by upcycling paper and scraps from previous projects. The color comes from the original color of the paper materials or mixing ground materials into the pulp (ex. milled bark to create brown). On top lays collage cut-outs, small objects, discarded photographs, and textual excerpts forming poetic “automatic writing” for imagining our futures (ex. “Fire was a worldmaking”, “do you feel, we feel”, “struggle, make worlds, life possible”).

This work features text from a Calvin & Hobbes comic strip, “I’m so smart, it’s almost scary. I guess I’m a child progeny.”
