I remember holding a hot cup of tea and thinking that the weather was doing most of the work for me. The lake, the mountains, the cool air – it all came together as the raindrops played their part with the pigments on the paper. I only had to outline the forms and add a bit of colour here and there to create contrast.
It felt magical in that moment. I was simply very happy.
I wanted this painting to keep that feeling. The freedom of choosing how to turn cold water falling from the sky into something calm and warm. The same rain could easily ruin a painting with a different approach – but it’s always your choice how to frame it.
