FunDesign Market 2025 Summary: 13,000 People Came Together in Helsinki

In 2025, FunDesign Market welcomed over 13,000 people, including visitors and artists, across three art & design markets in Helsinki. Each edition built on the last, introducing new concepts while staying true to our core mission: supporting artists and creating meaningful experiences around art & design.

Here’s a look back at what made each FunDesign Market in 2025 unique.

FunDesign Spring Market

Our Spring FunDesign Market (8.3.) took place at Redi, in a 1100+ m² indoor space, and marked an important milestone for FunDesign.

This one-day event was the first time we expanded beyond a traditional market format by introducing:

  • A café zone, encouraging visitors to slow down and stay longer
  • A selfie zone, designed for playful interaction and social sharing

These additions helped transform the market into a more immersive experience, where visitors could not only shop but also relax and connect with the community.

FunDesign Summer Market

The Summer FunDesign Market (30.-31.08.), also hosted at Redi, pushed the concept even further.
For the first time, we:

  • Hosted a two-day FunDesign Market
  • Introduced ticketed entry
  • Launched the FunDesign Token system

Tokens were included with tickets and could be exchanged for:

  • Drinks
  • Stickers from our first-ever sticker competition
  • Special offers from participating vendors

The Summer Market also marked our first sticker competition, where selected artists received cash prizes, creating new opportunities for creative recognition and income.

FunDesign Christmas Market

Our Christmas FunDesign Market (8.-9.11.) was the largest and most diverse edition of the year, hosted at Kaapelitehdas (Cable Factory) in a 3000+ m² venue.

The market transformed into a full art & design festival experience, bringing together over 150 sellers, DIY workshops, a café zone, and a selfie spot, plus festive highlights like:

  • Santa’s visits
  • A gift wrapping station
  • A 360-degree photo shoot
  • A tattoo station
  • Live music performances
  • And more interactive activities for visitors

It was a celebration of creativity, community, and end-of-year togetherness, and for many artists, the most important sales moment of the year.

More Than Just Markets

FunDesign’s work doesn’t stop at art & design markets.

Beyond FunDesign Market, we support artists through:

  • Pop-up stores, creating physical retail opportunities beyond markets
  • Community and educational events, from talks and workshops to relaxed meetups
  • Collaborations with major events, helping artists reach wider audiences
  • We are working on fully operational online marketplace, where artists can continuously showcase and sell their work

Together, these initiatives create multiple touchpoints for artists to grow visibility, income, and confidence, both online and offline.

Building a Sustainable Creative Ecosystem

FunDesign exists to help artists and designers build sustainable creative businesses in Finland. By combining markets, platforms, and community, we aim to lower barriers, open doors, and make creative careers more viable in the long term.
As FunDesign continues to grow, our focus remains the same: supporting artists, connecting audiences with original art & design, and strengthening Finland’s creative ecosystem together.
